INNKEEPERS PICK- SCENIC DRIVES
|

This is a great time of year to get out and toodle around the countryside as you take in all of our beautiful nature. We have detailed directions that you can take starting from the Lodge. All are loop drives . Scenic Drive 1 takes you by 2 vineyards, a working mill, 2 antique malls, yarn shop , a beautiful mosaic of farmland and woods, and by one of Virginia's most most natural areas. Scenic drive 2 takes you eastward to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Stop by the Peaks of Otter for a meal in their post and beam Lodge. Many hiking opportunities avail themselves up here, wildlife sightings are frequent. Scenic Drive 3 takes you west to high altitude Bath County where spectacular vistas are the norm. Stop at the Homestead Resort for lunch and loop back I-64 0r old Rt 60 as you soak in the colors. Theses are just a few options, come enjoy 2 or 3 days here and use the Lodge as your homebase for scenic enjoyment.

Wild and Wonderful Bath County is a great trip from the Lodge, work in a hike, ''take the waters'' in an old Historic Spa- tour the grand Homestead Hotel. The Greenbrier Resort in W. Va is 1 hour 15 minutes away- take a tour of the ''Bunkers'' which were built to house our leadership and preserve Democracy in in the heat of the Cold War. Historic Lewisburg is a great small town nearby to explore. Civil War buffs can enjoy Appomattox- 1 hour 20 minutes away or several battlefield sites north. The Frontier Museum and Blackfriars Theatrein Staunton are only 30 minutes away. The National D-Day Memorial in Bedford can make a nice day trip as well as Poplar Forest, Jefferson's summer home, a miniature Monticello.
